January 4, 2010 was the end of an era for the Sisters of Mercy of Papua New Guinea who have been living on the campus of Holy Trinity Teachers College in Mt Hagen for 41 years. Patricia Wood RSM (Rockhampton) reports.
At least 40 Sisters of Mercy of the Australian Institute attended the recent Parliament of World Religions in Melbourne (December 3-9, 2009). According to Cheryl Camp RSM (Townsville), Australian Sisters of Mercy already occupy a space in interfaith action, but perhaps now is the time to occupy a space at the level of national and international Mercy discourse.
The Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia this week formed a partnership with Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) Australia to provide religious and pastoral services to detainees, local community members and detention centre staff living on Christmas Island.
