VIC minister tours Mercy Place Parkville
According to Australia.TO, Victoria's Minister for Ageing, Justine Elliot, this week toured the $48 million Mercy Place Parkville aged care facility construction site located in inner Melbourne. Mercy Place is expected to be completed in August and will accommodate 90 low care and 50 high care residential places – totalling 140 aged care beds.

Melbourne sister celebrates 100 years
Congratulations to Melbourne Sister of Mercy, Cecilia Belt, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday with sisters, friends and relatives in Geelong. The Geelong Advertiser reports that Sister Cecilia's birthday is on May 30 but the party was brought forward because several of her closest friends are heading overseas.

Wilcannia-Forbes sister to volunteer at MIA
Wilcannia-Forbes sisters gathered at Kogarah recently to wish Sister Audette Mansour RSM well and bestow blessings upon her as she leaves for a two-month stint as a volunteer at Mercy International Centre, Dublin. “During the months of May and June, Audette will enjoy Catherine’s house as she continues ministry,” says Sister Nance Cale RSM. “Sisters prayed together, gave blessings and each anointed Audette. All enjoyed the evening together and ended with a Country Women's Supper.”

Following the death of Sister Petronia Gawi RSM (PNG Regional Leader) on February 5 this year, the Sisters of Mercy of Papua New Guinea will hold a chapter to elect a new leader and council from May 28-31 in Goroka.

New learning centre opened at Lavington
A new Learning Centre was opened at Mercy Centre, Lavington (a suburb of Albury, NSW) on Tuesday April 28. The day was marked by entertainment, joyful celebration and formalities as the board, staff, clients, families, community and friends realised a dream which has been slowly coming to fruition over the past years.
